The national flag of the democratic republic of the Congo is rectangular, with a ratio of 3∶2. The flag is sky blue, with six yellow pentacle stars vertically distributed on the far left and a larger yellow pentacle in the middle. The six stars represent the six original provinces of the democratic republic of Congo when it became independent in 1960.
